My mom moved to Fransiscan Courts in May of 2011. During these three years she received the best care that anyone would have hoped for. Their loving and tireless staff provided her excellent care for three years before her passing in May of 2014. Through all her illnesses and stays in hospitals and rehab facilities, the position of Fransiscan Courts was that this was her home and the best place for her to have the best quality of life. From the time she came in a walker to the final months of needing to be transferred from wheelchair to bed, toilet, or dinner where she was hand fed, they provided her the dignity any person should deserve.
In regards to costs, the fee plan was very well affordable as compared with nursing home costs. As a resident's need for more services increased, there was the ability to add more services such as feeding, incontinence, transferring, toileting, etc. The ability to accept Medicaid protected her from running out of assets. They were always upfront about situations that might arise and how the family could deal with them.
Should the time arise that I would need the services of a Supportive Living facility, I would hope that Fransiscan Courts would be the model to be their guide.
